Innovative project to reverse shortage begins
In 2016, MRC Deux-Montagnes included a component on “diversifying labour supply sources” in its PDZA.
This prompted the Centre d’emploi agricole to develop a local labour training project for the greenhouse, market gardening, and apple sectors. The pilot project officially kicks off on January 8 and will run until October. It is a chance for MRC Deux-Montagnes residents to receive training in these sectors, which are important in the region.
This project is made possible through the involvement of many partners including AGRIcarrières, the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail, Emploi Québec, La Porte de l’Emploi, the Centre de formation agricole de Mirabel (CFAM), and a number of employers in the region.
SRALO presentation to CFAM
On January 10, Louis Forget, President of the Syndicat de la relève agricole Laurentides-Outaouais (SRALO), gave a presentation to animal production students at the CFAM. He took advantage of this opportunity to discuss the different issues facing new farmers as well as SRALO’s upcoming projects.
